P. A. Bus Station Installation

Location: New York, NY
Date: 1995 - 1995
Size: NA
Scope: Installations within the Port Authorities Bus Terminal
Client: Mr. Pierre's Harvard Thesis

In His Masters Thesis at Harvard, Mr. Pierre borrowed from Deleuze and Guattari’s essay on “minor literature” and created his own “minor architecture” to describe how he adopted and transformed the language of architecture and the Port Authority Bus Terminal in New York City. Through his use of a particularly subjective lens that focused on the way in which the bus terminal was being utilized for sanctioned and unsanctioned purposes, he observed various activities that took place throughout the day that harkened a life of domesticity. Consequently, he proposed reading the bus terminal as an enormous house and devised several interventions for abetting these aspects of everyday life.
